Ziegler worked for the Lubin Film Co. acting as a "Cowboy" before he joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. He also worked for various oil companies for 15 years until he went to New York to study art. He is best known for illustration of Cowboy Stuff limited edition book with only 12 copies published.
