Large Tularosa Corrugated Olla
Ancestral pueblo (Anasazi), Tularosa Style, Ca 1150 - 1325 AD
An outstanding example of a large, globular Ancestral Pueblo utility vessel, this olla showcases the distinctive Tularosa Corrugated technique. The entire exterior surface is meticulously patterned with a textured design created by pinching and indenting the clay coils, a hallmark of high-quality Tularosa ware. The artistry and precision of the coiling are evident, forming an intricate, tactile surface. The vessel features a gently rounded bottom and a slightly flared, upright rim. The substantial size of the olla (13" D, 14" H) speaks to its original function as a primary storage container, most likely for water, within an Ancestral Pueblo household.
