Antique Sharps & Hankins Model 1862 Navy Carbine with serial number 2388; manufactured 1862-1865 in quantities totaling about 8,000. This is a second model Navy type with the firing pin mounted on recoil shield. The 24-inch barrel has the correct flip up sight. The markings on both sides of the frame are clear and sharp. The action functions properly and the bore is very good. The original butt stock retains the correct brass plate, fits well and has normal wear for age. Missing leather protective covering on barrel.
