Navajo Moki Serape Wearing Blanket, Ca. 1870s
Antique late classic Moki Serape wearing blanket featuring five rows of three crosses centered in concentric stepped diamonds, Ca. 1870s. The diamonds are set on broad panels of indigo and dark brown striped and separated by compound stripes of raveled Bayeta of pale green, indigo and dark brown. This weaving is very finely woven with a soft, supple handle. All Native Spanish Churro cross sheep handspun wools on a wool warp. Measurements: 76"x49", Provenance: Brad Watts Estate-Scottsdale AZ. The blanket is in very good condition.
