Alfred Eisenstaedt

Alfred Eisenstaedt was born in Dirshau (Tczew) in West Prussia, Imperial Germany in 1898. Eisenstaidt served in the German Army's artillery during World War I and was wounded in 1928. He began freelance photography for the Berliner in the 1920s. He emigrated to the Queens, New York United States in 1935 where he worked as a photographer and photojournalist for the rest of his life.
