Antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Leather Holster, Made 1878

The antique Colt Single Action Army revolver "Frontier Six Shooter" combines classic design with factory nickel finish and factory pearl grips. Manufactured in 1878 and chambered in the popular .44-40 WCF caliber (first year available to the public), this revolver was highly prized in its era for its ammunition compatibility with the Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle, allowing users to carry a single caliber of ammunition for both their rifle and pistol. The barrel has the one-line address on top and "Colt Frontier Six Shooter .44-40" on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the frame has two-line patent date markings. Original serial numbers. Standard blade front and frame top groove rear sights, 7 1/2" barrel, includes an old tight fitting marked "Troy, IL". Gun fits nicely in floral tooled holster with fringe.
Serial Number 45971
