Incredible Ancient Tall Mesa Verde Corrugated Cooking Pot, Ca 575 - 1300 AD

Ancient Tall Mesa Verde Corrugated Cooking Pot, Ca 575 - 1300 AD
Tall, corrugated pot is an above-average example, both in shape and form, of Mogollon corrugated pottery olla, a type of prehistoric Native American storage jar. This type of pottery was created by the Mogollon culture, which inhabited central Arizona and New Mexico. Characterized by its distinctive corrugated texture, created by coiling the clay and leaving the coils unpolished on the exterior surface - The warm shades of brown and red with shiny black interiors are a result of the smudging technique innovated by Mogollon potters.13 1/2"D, 15 1/2"H
Minor restoration considering its size. Quite remarkable actually.
