Colt New Line 22 Revolver, 1873
A fine example of Colt’s New Line 1873 revolver, chambered in .22 caliber with a seven-shot cylinder. Introduced in the early 1870s, the New Line represented Colt’s entry into the growing market for compact, metallic-cartridge pocket revolvers following the expiration of the Rollin White patent.
This revolver features:
Seven-shot cylinder in .22 rimfire
Rosewood grips with warm patina and smooth finish
Spur trigger design, characteristic of Colt’s early pocket models
Serial number 2581, placing it among the earlier production range
Antique nickel plating (likely original), which retains attractive traces of finish
The Colt New Line series was produced between 1873–1884 in several calibers, with the .22 being among the earliest and most compact. With its mechanical soundness and early production serial, this revolver is a desirable addition to any collection of Colt firearms or 19th-century American pocket revolvers.
