Sioux Beaded and Quilled Pipe Bag, Ca 1890s

The bag is constructed out of native tanned hide, sinew sewn, and decorated with a combination of dyed porcupine quill and small seed beads. The base panel is decorated in a white background with geometric spyder symbols in orange, green, navy, and brown beads. Beneath the base panel, there are quill wrapped hide slats which are decorated in multi-color dyed quill. Beneath the slats is fringe. Some quill loss on slats. 35"L x 7 3/4"W, Ca. 1890s
