Moccasin grey cooking pot
Moccasin grey cooking pot
A water or cooking jug. Characterized by a simple, utilitarian design and "fire clouds" from outdoor pit firing. The pot has a bulbous base, a short neck, and a simple fiber cord attached for handling or suspension. Native American artists have created functional pottery for thousands of years using natural materials such as local clays, roots, and bark.
The uneven color, is typical of "fire cloud" carbon smudges that occur during traditional outdoor pit firing.
