Hohokam Pallete
An exceptional and ancient stone palette from the prehistoric Hohokam culture, expertly hand-carved and ground from a flattened piece of schist. This rectangular palette features rounded corners and a slightly concave central surface, designed for grinding and mixing pigments for ceremonial use. The Hohokam people were master artisans and engineers who adapted to the harsh Sonoran Desert, developing sophisticated irrigation systems to support their settlements.
6 3/8"L, 3"W, 3/16"D
Expected surface wear, commensurate with its age and ritual use. A few minor chips along the edges. No major cracks or restorations.
