This rare 1890s Ute pipe bag is sinew sewn on supple native hide, featuring a large multi-colored beaded panel with geometric design. The flap is finished with beaded trim and an original soldier’s uniform button—a rare and meaningful detail in historic Native American art. The long fringe is colored with red ochre pigment, adding further visual impact and authenticity.

This is a beautiful example of Ute beadwork and craftsmanship from the late 19th century, preserved in excellent condition.
